About The Event
QPR: Question. Persuade. Refer
The three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
As a QPR trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:
-Recognize warning signs of suicide
-Know how to offer hope
-Know how to get help to save a life
QPR is not a mental health treatment. QPR is intended to be able to identify an individual who may be having thoughts of suicide and provide them with the appropriate resources.
QPR is for any adult who is interested in learning more about suicide prevention.
Often time our society does not want to talk about suicide. Our society cannot go on ignoring the problem. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among youth age 15-24. Suicide is also often times the most preventable.
Foster Parents are able to earn 2 hours of ongoing training hours. This training is open to the community.
Foster youth are also at higher risk of suicide than their peers who are not in foster care. We want foster parents to have the knowledge and resources for when they may encounter a youth struggling with thoughts of suicide.
This training is for adults only (18+). Child care is not provided. You must register by following the ticket link. Please make sure to arrive early to find the room and sign in. At the completion of the training, you will receive a certificate of completion.
Directions:
The room we are using is 103 Johnson Center for Fine Arts (JCFA) which is located on the corner of Grizzly drive and Branigin Blvd.
