The three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
As a QPR trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:
-Recognize warning signs of suicide
-Know how to offer hope
-Know how to get help to save a life
QPR is not a mental health treatment. QPR is intended to be able to identify an individual who may be having thoughts of suicide and provide them with the appropriate resources.
QPR is for any adult who is interested in learning more about suicide prevention.
Often time our society does not want to talk about suicide. Our society cannot go on ignoring the problem. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among youth age 15-24. Suicide is also often times the most preventable.
Resources of Hope is offering a QPR training to Foster Parents to be able to earn ongoing training hours.
Foster youth are also at higher risk of suicide than their peers who are not in foster care. We want foster parents to have the knowledge and resources for when they may encounter a youth struggling with thoughts of suicide.
This training is for adults only (18+). Child care is not provided. You must register by following the ticket link. Due to the training taking place around dinner time please feel free to bring your dinner to the training. Please arrive a few minutes early, we will start promptly at 6:30. The meeting room is located on the third floor of the pavilion. At the completion of the training, you will receive a certificate of completion.
If you or your someone you know is having thoughts of suicide please reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255)
